Fidget Spinners banned from school
We would like to draw your attention to ‘Fidget Spinners’ which seem to be the latest craze to hit schools. Due to a number of reported incidents in the past few days, some of which involved students disrupting lessons, we will now be banning students from bringing ‘Fidget Spinners’ in to school. For those of you not aware of these gadgets, ‘Fidget Spinners’ are small flat plastic or metal devices with two to four circular prongs on them, which twirl round when you hold the middle section
Initially the school took the decision to allow pupils to bring them in provided they did not cause disruption to lessons or present any other issues. Unfortunately a small minority of students have chosen to use them in lessons and we have also been concerned that money may be changing hands in school as students look to buy and sell them on. We will be notifying students on Monday and Tuesday that they are no longer allowed to bring them in to school and we would appreciate it if parents/carers could reinforce this message at home. Pupils caught in possession of such items will have them confiscated and will only be returned once parents have collected them from the school.
As always one of our primary aims is to ensure your children are educated in an environment free from distractions and as such we would appreciate your support on this matter. If you have any further questions in relation to this issue please do not hesitate to contact myself or other members of the Pupil Care team at the school. Mr Walton.
