Free Activities - Summer Holidays 2018
Free events to take advantage of from 21st July to 3rd September
1. The Changing of the Guard
Tube: Green Park
Get to Buckingham Palace a bit before the 11:30am kick off to see the Changing of the Guard, then wander through St James’s Park to see the Pelicans (fed between 2.30pm-3pm daily), and picnic in Green Park instead.
2. Celebrate 100 years of the RAF at the RAF Museum Hendon
Tube: Collindale (Northern Line)
Bus: 303 (catch at Mill Hill station heading towards Collindale)
Set in Hendon’s Former aerodrome, this free attraction tells the 100 year story of the Royal Air Force, with over 100 aircraft on display including the only full model of a F-35 Joint Striker jet, as a well as a Lancaster Bomber.
3. Visit the Sky Garden
Tube: Monument (District Line)
Cost: Free (need to book ahead) https://skygarden.london/booking
The Sky Garden is London’s highest public Garden. Places need to be booked, they are available online every two weeks for a twenty minute visit but are definitely worth the wait.
4. London Transport Museum
Tube: Covent Garden
Cost: Free 13-17 (12 and under need to be accompanied by an adult.)
Students can delve into the fun and fascinating world of engineering during six weeks of STEM related interactive challenges, storytelling and demonstrations. Each week a new transport challenge will explore themes such as steam, electricity and design.
5. Free Tennis
Location: Lammas Park (E7 Bus) and Pitshanger Park Ealing (E5 Bus)
Feeling inspired by Wimbledon? Every Monday to Friday from 3-6 pm the tennis courts at Lammas Park and Pitshanger Park are free to use for all juniors 11-16. The courts are being provided free of charge by Will to Win. You only need to a racquet and a tennis ball.
