Proposed Changes to Admissions Arrangements

The Cardinal Wiseman Catholic School is proposing to change the admission arrangements for the year 2020/2021

The proposed changes and the reasons for the changes are set out here:

The Cardinal Wiseman School Governing Body propose the following changes to the Year 7 admission criteria for entry in September 2020:

  1. Remove Category 3 - Category 3 was introduced in 2017 to allow Catholic applicants who had been unable to gain a place at a named primary school an opportunity to attend Cardinal Wiseman. In practice, pupils from other Catholic Primary Schools outside the Borough of Ealing are taking those places and this is to the detriment of pupils at our named schools. In response to this the Governors propose that category 3 is deleted. Category 3 currently says:

10% (30 places) will be available for Catholic children with a Certificate of Catholic Practice not attending a named school listed in Category 4

  1. Increase the Published Admission Number to 310 - Following a request from Ealing Council to take additional students in 2018, the Governing Body proposes to increase the Published Admission Number by 10 places.

The Consultation is due to end on 31st January 2019.

We invite your comments which will be taken into consideration by the Governing Body before determining the Admissions arrangements for 2020/2021. Please send your comments to
