Cardinal Wiseman Hosts ESU Great Mace Debate.

On Tuesday December 7th 2010 at 4.45pm, students from: Cardinal Wiseman, Greenford High, Twyford and St. Augustine's School took part in the English Speaking Union Great Mace Debate.

On Tuesday December 7th 2010 at 4.45pm, students from: Cardinal Wiseman, Greenford High, Twyford and St. Augustine's School took part in the English Speaking Union Great Mace Debate. It was chaired by Hermine Kudia, who was exemplary and Laura Tyler, who was a great timekeeper.

The 3 judges were: Professor Gillett OBE, Ms Carol Verity and Mr. Robin MacGibbon. The winning school was Twyford and they will go forward to the next round. Nevertheless, our students, Charis Charles and Jemma Gewargis were fantastic and they had to debate in favour of the motion:'This house believes hosting major sporting events are a drain and not a benefit to society.'

A big thank you to everyone who helped make this event possible. Thank you to the caretakers for allowing this to occur and the Sixth Formers themselves, who were great ambassadors for our school community. Many Year 7 and 8 students came along to watch this debate. Well done everyone.
