A Winning Start

A visit by Olympic Gold Medallist Amy Williams MBE kicks off a diverse programme of enrichment opportunities for Cardinal Wiseman Sixth Form Students

A visit by Olympic Gold Medallist Amy Williams MBE kicks off a diverse programme of enrichment opportunities for Cardinal Wiseman Sixth Form Students. After an inspiring summer of Olympics and Paralympics, we are delighted to welcome the Skeleton Bob Champion to share her own first hand Olympic experiences with our students.

Originally a 400 m runner Amy took up skeleton bob at Bath University and went on to win Gold at the Vancouver Winter Olympics. Amy was the first British competitor to win an individual Gold Medal at a Winter Olympics for 30 Years after Robin Cousins won in 1980; the first British female Gold in 52 years.
This is a winning start to a diverse programme of events available to sixth form students (aged 16 – 18 years). The programme will cover an exciting range of topics including Conservation, Drama, University and Careers, Volunteering, Spirituality and Global issues. 380 students aged 16 – 18 years old will attend this event.

Mr Dann, Head of Year 13 says, “This year is offering a very exciting enrichment package for the 6th Form, an explosive introduction to the initiative with an Olympic Gold medallist sets an extremely high standard in the aim to inspire our students.”
