Year 12 Maths Mock Examinations

Read about forthcoming Plans for Year 12 Maths Mock Exams

7th December 2012

Dear Parent/Carer,

RE: Mathematics Mock examinations

I would like to thank you for your efforts in supporting your son/daughter in Mathematics this far and am writing to inform you of some forthcoming plans.

In order to prepare for the Core 1 Examination your son/daughter may be sitting in January (Monday 14th January 2013) or perhaps in the summer, we are holding a mock examination on Thursday 13th December 2012 at 3:30 – 5:00 pm. This will be a complete paper and an excellent opportunity to sit an exam under similar conditions to they way in which they will be tested.

Since the four Year 12 Maths classes are all taught at different times, it is very difficult to find a time during the school day when all 68 students are free. Holding this mock after school also saves two valuable teaching periods which can be utilised for further C1 exam practice.

Statistics 1 will be taken in the summer so your son/daughter will have an in-class test lasting one period on the topics studied so far in that same week.

Key dates:

C1 Mock: Thursday 13th December 2012 at 3:30-5pm (Activities Studio J217)
S1 in-class test: One period of Statistics in class on Wednesday 12th/Thursday 13th December

It is essential your child utilises this valuable opportunity by revising thoroughly and is correctly equipped.

Your son/daughter also has access to various Mathematics websites the school has subscribed to. Whilst it is important to have a good break, please could you remind your child to make full use of all resources over the Christmas holidays, working hard to prepare fully for any examinations they may be taking.

Please do contact me at the school if there are any queries. On behalf of the Mathematics team, I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very good Christmas holiday and a peaceful New Year.
Yours sincerely

Mrs N Dann
