The Cardinal Wiseman Catholic School

Wiseman Olympics

The Wiseman Olympics will end at 1.25 pm due to forecasted high temperatures. It is essential that all students  bing a hat, suncream and plenty of water.

Dear Parent

I am writing to you in relation to the ‘Wiseman Olympics’ taking place tomorrow, Thursday 18th July.
The weather forecast is for temperatures to reach towards 30degrees. A consequence of this is that students will be at risk of illness related to the extreme conditions. Following the events of the week-end, when two soldiers died from head exhaustion in Wales, I am sure that you will understand my decision to adjust the programme for tomorrow.

All students and staff will make their way to Perivale Track Stadium following registration. They will engage in the first three phases of the event up to 1.25pm, at which point they will be dismissed. The fourth phase of the programme will be cancelled.

Any students who cannot return home at 1.25pm can return to school with staff, where they will be supervised until 3.00pm.

I apologise for any inconvenience to families, but hope that you will understand my caution in light of recent events. Please make sure that your child brings a hat, sun-cream and plenty of water. Despite the loss of the final part of the day I am certain that the students will have a fantastic day at the track.

Yours sincerely

Mr M Kiely
