Praying to Mary our Mother

As we journey through the month of May we take time to pray especially to Mary that she may help us.

As I am sure many are aware May is the month we in the Roman Catholic Church dedicate to Mary. We give Mary a special prominence in our faith for being the Virgin Mother of our saviour Jesus Christ and so we dedicate this period of time to acknowledge her role in our journey to salvation. What can often be forgotten though is that we do not worship her, we worship the divine, the Holy Trinity of God the Father, Jesus the Son and the Holy Spirit but not Mary. Instead we pray especially to Mary to intervene for us, to be a bridge for us between our worldly issue and Jesus our saviour, she helps us to connect with the Lord just like she did at the wedding feast in Cana. But she is also the most prominent example of faith to us all, she demonstrated immense courage and believe in God by accepting his call and bearing the Son of Man and being the pillar on which the new covenant could be built, her willingness and love for God allowed us to receive the Gospel message and be free of sin as Jesus would provide. So we take this month to not only acknowledge her role in our lives but also to pray to her for help.

At this time we pray especially to Mary that she can keep watch over all our students currently sitting exams and those who are about to leave our community to start their journeys in life so we pray.

Hail Mary,
Full of Grace,
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit
of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
pray for us sinners now,
and at the hour of death.

Amen.
