Ernst and Young
Maths students from Year 12 travelled to St Benedict’s school in Ealing to attend a careers talk by Ernst & Young.
On Monday, 16th June a group of 20 Maths students from Year 12 travelled to St Benedict’s school in Ealing to attend a careers talk by Ernst & Young. It covered topics such as:
• What accountancy is about
• A Level, Higher BTEC and graduate entry to accountancy
• Graduate sponsorship offered by Ernst & Young
• The experiences of a current A Level entry trainee accountant
Our students found the presentation very informative. It has given them clear ideas about different routes into accountancy and the variety of roles within the profession such as advisory, assurance and tax. They were encouraged to start looking at internships and work experience as early as this summer holiday. Ernst & Young offer many opportunities for young people interested in a career in accountancy. For more information they can go to http://www.ey.com/UK/en/Careers/Students . Another useful site listing many opportunities for students interested in accountancy apprenticeships is http://www.allaboutschoolleavers.co.uk
Many thanks to Mr Ian Simpson, Head of Economics at St. Benedict’s for organising the event and for inviting our students. We also thank Mr William Cuss from Ernst & Young for an excellent delivery of the presentation.
