Year of Consecrated Life
November 2014 - November 2015 the Catholic Church around the world will celebrate the Year of Consecrated Life.
At the beginning of Advent in the coming week we, as a faith, will enter into a year dedicated to an important aspect of Catholic life: from November 2014 - November 2015 the Catholic Church around the world will celebrate the Year of Consecrated Life. Announced by the Holy Father, the year will focus on the lives and actions of those Men and Women who have taken the path of living a consecrated life. The goals will include reflecting on the unique role religious people have in the Church. Everything from their charisms to their challenges. Among them, for example, why some decide to leave their vocation.
“Consecrated persons are a sign of God in the different areas of life, they are leaven for the growth of a more just and fraternal society, they are the prophecy of sharing with the least and the poor. Thus understood and lived, consecrated life appears as what it really is: a gift from God, a gift of God to the Church, a gift of God to his People! Every consecrated person is a gift for the People of God on its journey”.
Through out this coming Year we, as a faith, will look closer at the life's and the particular aspects of men and woman who choice the religious life as well as praying for them on their Journeys.
God, during this Year of Consecrated Life, we give you thanks for these courageous witnesses of Faith and models of inspiration. Their pursuit of holy lives teaches us to make a more perfect offering of ourselves to you. Continue to enrich your Church by calling forth sons and daughters who seek the treasure the Kingdom of Heaven above all things. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.
