Year of Mercy

Situations can change; people can change. Be the first to seek to bring good.

Situations can change; people can change. Be the first to seek to bring good. Do not grow accustomed to evil, but defeat it with good.’  ~Pope Francis, Church of Mercy.

On December 8th, the solemnity of the Immaculate Conception , we entered the Jubilee Year of Mercy proclaimed by Pope Francis. The Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy is an invitation to all Christians to draw closer to Jesus who is “the face of the Father’s mercy” Misericordiae Vultus #1. We are called in many ways throughout this holy year to experience God’s mercy, through the undertaking of pilgrimages, walking through Holy Doors, and undertaking corporal and spiritual acts of mercy. Here at Wiseman, we have already had an assembly on the Year of Mercy, we have offered reconciliation services and the sacrament of reconciliation to our 6th Formers and we have had a charity event to raise money for 4 different charities. We look forward to focusing on the Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy in Lent to continue the Year of Mercy here in our Wiseman Community.
