Homework

Homework

Research shows that regular completion of homework at secondary level has a significant impact on students’ outcomes. At Cardinal Wiseman we have a consistent whole-school approach to the setting of homework, focussing on developing both student progress and independent learning skills. Homework is set in accordance with the grid below:

Regularity of homework per subject:

KS3

KS4

KS5

Students are set homework as follows:

  • Once a week: English, Maths, Science, RE, MFL
  • Once a fortnight: History, Geography
  • Once a half term: Music, Art, Drama, ICT, D&T, PE

KS3 students are expected to spend approx. 5 hours a week on homework to support their learning in school

Each subject sets around one-two hours of homework per week. Part of this time is designated to revision and wider reading.

KS4 students are expected to spend approx. 10-15 hours a week on homework to support their learning in school

Each subject sets three -five hours of homework per week. In addition, teachers also direct students towards revision and wider reading.
