Sixth Form

The Cardinal Wiseman Sixth Form is a vibrant and distinct learning community. We are committed to providing the highest standards of teaching and learning within a strong academic environment. We believe in maximising our students’ potential through effective guidance and support and by providing a range of opportunities to equip our young people with the skills and knowledge to succeed in the 21st century.

We are particularly proud of achieving an ‘outstanding’ judgement for the Sixth Form from OFSTED which acknowledges our pledge to providing an excellent education for all of our students.‘The leadership of the Sixth Form and the care, guidance and support provided to students are outstanding. Students recognise the high expectations that teachers have of them and report,‘Teachers knew I could do better even before I did. The school does not give up on anyone and gets you grades you would not expect.’ (OFSTED report, December 2008).

Many of our students now attend Russell Group universities, including Oxford and Cambridge. We offer a strong combination of learning and social facilities to ensure students are well catered for.
This year we have three distinct learning pathways: accelerated, academic and vocational. These pathways ensure that students of all abilities are studying appropriate courses where they will succeed in. We have seen a huge rise in our numbers from less than 300 last year to over 380 this September as a result of our new and extended provision. We have also moved to brand new sixth form facilities in the Jerusalem building which has improved the learning experiences of our students considerably.

Results 2012

This has been another year of great A Level grades and significantly improved AS Level results. The A Level pass rate for Y13 was 100% A – E grades. 53% of all A Level entries were graded A* - B – this is a fantastic achievement and reflects the hard work and commitment of students and staff alike. The percentage of A Level entries graded A* - C was equally impressive at 82%.

These results have led to a very high Average Points Score per entry of 229, the highest in Ealing Borough. This means that the average grade that Wiseman students leave the Sixth Form with is well above national and local averages.

We are very proud of our students’ achievements and wish them well as they take up their places at Russell Group universities, many of which are world renowned institutions. Follow the link to see where our high achievers are headed this year:
