Covid-19 Update re Home Learning

As students are leaving for an indefinite period from today, I am writing to you with a final ‘pre-home learning update’.

Students from designated groups, attending from Monday, need to bring their school books for lessons that they would normally have each day.  There is no expectation that they have to be in school uniform.  Supervised study will be from 9.30am to 3.00pm with a morning break and lunch-time break; students will not be permitted to leave the school site during the school day.  There will be a limited menu lunch service and students are able to bring packed lunches.

The only student group we are currently unable to plan firmly for are our ‘free school meal’ children.  Ealing Local Authority are meeting today to plan a strategy that ensures related provision.  As soon as we hear from Ealing LA we will contact those families affected; in the meantime, we will support families by opening up the kitchen next Monday and Tuesday.  Please, if your child receives free school meals, email the school by Sunday to register your child to pop in for a hot lunch at 12.30pm on each day.  Hopefully, by Wednesday the guidance/support will be clearer.

A further communication regarding home learning should have reached families by email earlier today.  We have planned for next week and beyond thoroughly.  I would ask families to be patient; not everything will run smoothly at first but we will fix any problems that emerge.  We suddenly long for the routines taken for granted and can only hope that we return to school before the end of the academic year.

Please contact me should you have any concerns in relation to the above.  We will contact Year 11 and Year 13 families as soon as we are given guidance around how our students’ work is to be accredited.
