Year 10 English Literature Sets 1 and 2 only

In the autumn term the Year 10 Sets 1 and 2 students will be starting the preparations for their GCSE English Literature exam and should purchase their own personal copies of the texts for annotation. Read more for updated ISBN numbers...

Dear Parent/Carer,

Texts for English Literature Examination
In the autumn term your child will be starting the preparations for their GCSE English Literature exam. In preparation for this we are requesting that you purchase a copy of ‘Of Mice and Men,’ by John Steinbeck and ‘An Inspector Calls’ by J.B. Priestley. Having a personal copy will allow your child to annotate and prepare the texts thoroughly for the exam next year. Unfortunately, we do not have texts available for individual students to annotate.
We would suggest that these texts are purchased at the start of the holidays so that Literature students can read the texts during the summer break. In the final exam, the most successful students will have a detailed knowledge of these texts, which will require numerous readings.
The texts can be ordered from W.H. Smiths or Amazon, the correct ISBN number for ‘Of Mice and Men’ is 0141023570, and the book costs around £5.99 and for ‘An Inspector Calls’, the ISBN number is
978-0-435232-82-5 and it costs about £8.50.
Many thanks for your support on this issue.
Yours faithfully,
Mrs M Harper
