Cogitamus is a ‘club’ for those students and teachers who are interested in learning about philosophy. We usually cover a philosophical topic through close reading of extracts from major philosophical texts. However, depending on the nature of the group, we might decide to follow the works of one major philosopher or just to focus on the major philosophical problems and how they might be approached. Cogitamus is thoroughly democratic in character and for some, it is the pleasure of learning in itself which is the main reason for joining. For others, of course, the motivation is to improve reasoning skills or just for something to put on their UCAS form….
Cogitamus is on Thursday lunchtimes in J215 from 1 o’clock. All welcome.
