Year 7 Parents' Information Evening
Year 7 parents are invited to a Year 7 Parents’ Information Evening on Thursday 2nd October 2014 at 6pm.
Year 7 parents are invited to a Year 7 Parents’ Information Evening on Thursday 2nd October 2014 at 6pm. We hope that your child has had a happy and successful transition from primary school. Ms McGovern (Head of Year 7) and Ms Pound (Deputy Head of Year 7) have been working tirelessly to ensure that all students are happy, organised and are making progress in lessons. The transition from Year 6 to Year 7 can be a daunting experience for some students. Working with both the student and their family is a key factor in ensuring that a child makes good progress in school.
The information evening will provide you with a clear insight into how our school community operates. You will receive information on your child’s curriculum and how they can best be supported both at school and at home. We hope that you will gain a clear understanding of how to monitor your child’s progress closely and understand how their target grades for GCSE are produced.
You will have the opportunity to meet your child’s form tutor and have an informal conversation about how they are settling into school. The form tutors and the pastoral team play a pivotal role in ensuring that each child feels safe and happy at school. It is important that each child feels valued and knows who they can talk to if they are worried.
We will be encouraging parents/carers to have learning conversations with their children. Having a conversation with your son or daughter about what they enjoy, what they are good at, what motivates them to learn, the environment they want to be in and their preferred learning style can be the key to their success.
Refreshments will be served in the school canteen from 5.20pm and the presentation will start promptly at 6pm. We hope that you will be able to attend this important meeting. Students do not need to attend. Please return the reply slip on the letter to your child’s form tutor by Tuesday 30th September. A copy of the letter can be found on the website 'Letters' page.
