12th Annual Spelling Bee
The tension was tangible
The tension was tangible as the two finalists stood for the last time to spell in front of an audience of parents and peers. Guesswork could not have told you who was to win as all students performed to such an incredibly high standard. In the end Debbie Alabi-Araoye was the French champion, Claire Watson the Spanish.
Such was the atmosphere in Bethlehem Hall on Thursday 14th July where the Year 7 12th Annual MFL Spell Bee was taking place. This Spell Bee has been a fantastic way to raise money for well-deserved charities over the years here at Cardinal Wiseman. We are proud to support two charities, namely the Kodeni School Project, Burkina Faso (French Dept.) and The Toybox Charity, Guatemala (Spanish Dept.).
This year our wonderful Year 7 students raised a total of £120 for the Kodeni School Project and £117.50 for The Toybox Charity however, the window for donations is open until the end of August so continued support would be greatly appreciated. If you would like to make a donation, however big or small, please follow these links-

Thank you to the families and friends who came to support our students. As teachers and tutors here in the MFL Department we are so proud of our Year 7s for taking on this foreign language challenge with such energy and enthusiasm. All participants have shown steely strength of character to stand in front of their peers and families, and we have no doubt that taking part in such an experience will stand to them, in future. We look forward to bearing witness to their bright futures with regards to language learning, here at Cardinal Wiseman.
