Year 12 Jubilee Pilgrimage to Rome

On the 26th April this year, nine of our Year 12 students travelled to Rome with Service Users and staff from Caritas St Joseph's for the Jubilee of the Disabled.

Caritas St Joseph’s, which is based in Hendon, has been supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities for over 40 years.

Not only was the work physically challenging for our students with long days, a packed programme and heavy wheelchairs, but it was emotionally challenging too.

Our students offered both respite and companionship to the students of St Joseph’s and their families. For the five days we were in Rome, the family members were not on their own, our students journeyed with them. During their pilgrimage, our students had the privilege of walking through, not one, but three Holy Door's and joined in Mass and Liturgies with the group as well as the opportunity to visit Pope Francis's tomb.

It was a powerful experience of faith, service, and community.
