(Different schools will be performing on 5th November so make sure you book for the right night!)
This is part of the Shakespeare Schools Festival
. The festival aims to challenge preconceptions that literature is ‘difficult or dull’ by bringing it to life on stage. Twelve students, currently in Year 10 (aged 14-15 years), were chosen to perform last year because of their fantastic achievements in Drama throughout the year. The students will put on a 30 minute version of Othello (abridged by Shakespeare Schools Festival) and will perform it on a professional stage.
As part of the festival, teachers have benefitted from director workshops with the National Theatre and the students have enjoyed performance skills workshops. Rehearsals are going well with a bit of British bake off mixed in! They are looking forward to the technical and dress rehearsals before the big performance on 6th November. Wiseman students are no strangers to professional theatre having performed ‘Too Fast’ last year at the Rose Theatre, Kingston, which was featured in the Ealing Gazette.
Three other local schools will be performing plays on the night too including: Dairy Meadow’s version of Macbeth, Villiers High School Version of Twelfth Night and Hobbayne Primary School. This is the fourteenth year that the Shakespeare Schools Festival has run and they say that this will be the biggest and best so far.
