University Application and Support

Students who wish to apply to university are fully supported through the UCAS process (see below for further information). Throughout Year 12 there is a strong focus on providing information about applying to university as well as careers advice about other options. Students are given opportunities to attend subject workshops and encouraged to attend university open days. The sixth form organises a specialist UCAS conference every year in June to prepare students successfully for university. Many experts from different careers share their knowledge and experience with our students by delivering presentations to Y12 students. We have strong contacts with Morgan Stanley, Imperial College, The Economist and local architects, solicitors, forensic scientists and accountants. We have a full time specialist UCAS and Enrichment Advisor who provides extensive individual support and guidance.

Students start preparing their UCAS application in June and by October will have finalised their university choices. The Sixth Form team provide extensive advice and guidance to students, and work closely with the Connexions team to ensure students apply for suitable courses.

UCAS and Oxbridge Group

Oxbridge Group

The Oxbridge Group is made up of Accelerated students whose GCSE average points scores indicate the highest ability at A Level. There is a programme of enrichment activities aimed at these students to ensure that their applications to Russell Group universities are successful. Students are encouraged to attend Master classes for the Extended Project to develop their research and critical thinking skills as well as develop their own personal interests. They are provided with mock interview practice, opportunities to lead societies and a vibrant debating club so that they become confident and articulate young people who will be able to impress Admissions Tutors at prestigious universities or future employers.
